Uzbekistan President pardoned 258 convicts on eve of the holy Ramadan (Eid Al Fitr)

(Tashkent PR): – As a vivid expression of Uzbek nation’s noble qualities as kindness, generosity, humanism and mercy, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inked the milestone Decree “On the pardon of a group of people serving a term of punishment, sincerely repenting of their deeds and firmly embarking on the path of correction”.

Key facts:

1. In accordance with the Presidential Decree, 258 Uzbek nationals, including foreign countries’ citizens have been pardoned.

2. Out of the pardoned 16 people are completely exempted from serving the main punishment, 101 exempted from serving the sentence on parole, the punishment imposed on 24 is replaced by a milder one. Terms of sentences in the form of imprisonment imposed on 117 persons have been significantly reduced.

3. Among the pardoned 7 men over 60 years old, 1 woman, 7 foreign nationals, 164 persons convicted of engaging in banned organizations’ activities.
