Strictly Come Dancing winner Abbey Clancy shows her dark side – with a new hairdo for a charity campaign.
She posed with Ronnie Wood-style choppy black style to promote Macmillan Cancer Support which is encouraging the public to go for a new look to support people affected by the disease.
Model Clancy has been pictured by photographer Rankin to raise awareness of Macmillan’s Shave Or Style campaign.
She said: “I knew I wanted to try something really different that people wouldn’t immediately recognise as ‘me’. I’ve always had long, blonde hair so in the end I went for a short punky look! It was so much fun to experiment and trial a new style for the day.”
The charity wants people to show their support for people with cancer by shaving their own hair or trial a new style and share a picture of themselves via social media. And they are encouraging people to donate £3 to the campaign by texting STYLE to 70550.
Others who have been pictured by Rankin are singer Nina Nesbitt and TV presenter Gethin Jones.
Nesbitt said: “I’d feel like a completely different person without my blonde hair – I even named my album, Peroxide, after it – so it’s been so cool to try something different and it’s such an easy way to help people affected by cancer.”
And Jones said: “We went for the Clark Kent inspired look for this Rankin shoot, I’m just waiting to turn into superman now – but the true superheroes to me are those facing cancer. ”
Rankin said: “It was great fun but it’s important to remember that at the end of the shoot, all three left as they arrived, yet for those affected by cancer – long standing changes to appearance such as hair loss are a day to day reality. Shave Or Style encourages people to try something different in order to recognise that changes to your appearance affect not only how you look, but also how you feel.”
