(Press Release):- For 30 years after the proclamation of independence, Kazakhstan has come a long historical path.
Historically, 30 years is a short period. At the same time, the historical path along which Kazakhstan has passed during this time, and the decisions taken at the same time are worthy of centuries, an era.
It is enough to assess the short period of history and politics of Kazakhstan and its leader Nursultan Nazarbayev from 1991 to 1999.
During the 47th session of the UN General Assembly in 1992, Elbasy became the author of a historical discourse.
In this report, Nursultan Nazarbayev raised the issue of regional and global security through the creation of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Today CICA is an authoritative international organization.
In 1994, Mr. Nazarbayev proposed the idea of Eurasian integration during his speech to the Russian academicians and intellectuals at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
However, then some Kremlin officials did not pay attention to this proposal of the head of Kazakhstan. There were even those who criticized him. However, time has proven the viability of Nazarbayev’s idea.
As a result, in January 1st, 2015, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia formed the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) with the aim of fostering closer economic cooperation among member states for the well-being of the about 185 million people of the region. I would like to note that not all the issues of this economic union have been resolved yet. But the cooperation within the framework of the Union continues to develop.
In 1996, the idea of holding the next summit of the European Organization for Security Cooperation (OSCE) in Kazakhstan was put forward. The summit was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana city in 2010.
In 1996-1997, Nazarbayev’s leadership role also manifested itself during the Asian crisis that gripped the entire world. For the first time in Kazakhstan, such concepts as overcoming the crisis, “Road Map” have been implemented.
Kazakhstan is a multinational state. In 1995, on the initiative of the First President, the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan (APK) was established. This year the APK celebrated its 25th anniversary. The Assembly of People of Kazakhstan has developed from a consultative and advisory body into a national institution with its own parliamentary representation.
It should be noted that 1991-1999 was a difficult period in the development of Kazakhstan.
On the one hand, there was a need to strengthen its position in the international arena, and on the other, to strengthen the economy of the young state.
Since 1999, Nursultan Nazarbayev has become one of the authoritative international leaders.
As you know, being a leader means being with the people who follow you.
In 2000, a new century began. Independent Kazakhstan faced new goals and objectives. We managed to overcome all difficulties together with our leader. In 2000, Kazakhstan and the states of the world faced new challenges.
• international terrorism,
• financial crisis of 2007
• corruption in the country,
• the increasing challenges of security in Central Asia in connection with the situation in Afghanistan,
• the revolution in the Middle East, known as the “Arab Spring”, which affected the situation in Kazakhstan and in the countries of Central Asia,
• Color Revolutions in the CIS countries, in particular, political coups in Kyrgyzstan in 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020. Renewal of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, a new war between Armenia and Azerbaijan;
• the coronavirus pandemic in 2019 – 2020.
The head of Kazakhstan with his wisdom led the country out of new challenges. This is truly exemplary political leadership.
Over the years of Independence, the Kazakh people have shown themselves to be a wise, bright and great people.
