Opening ceremony of Eurasian Media Forum was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan

(By Shahid Qureshi – Chief Editor in Kazakhstan) :-

The opening ceremony of XVI Eurasian Media Forum was held in the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan. The topic of the Forum of 2019 is “The World Today: Transforming Reality”.

The first speaker at the opening was Almaty city akim Bauyrzhan Baibek. Having expressed gratitude to the organizer and permanent head of the Forum Dariga Nazarbayeva, akim told about the latest changes in Almaty. To summarize, he mentioned that it is not coincidence for Almaty to become an international meeting platform.

At the first Forum session “Deglobalization: The World in Search of New Development Models” participants shared their opinions on the tendencies that rule the political reality today.

The session moderator TRT World Presenter Ghida Fakhry started with the hypothesis that today’s world is becoming more and more chaotic and the feeling of the arising danger now is probably much stronger than during the Cold War.

However, the session participants doubted that deglobalization would be dominating for a long time. The President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian assured that deglobalization is not something he believes in. On the contrary, deglobalization is the phenomenon that started thousands of years ago and is continuing now.

He was supported in his position that deglobalization will continue by the other discussion participants: Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China’s National People’s Congress Baige Zhao, Estonia Ex-President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev and Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tatyana Valovaya.
