“Are you happy with the arrangements for the presidential elections”, asked Dr Dariga Nazarbayeva, to Dr Shahid Qureshi Chief Editor, The London Post at the presidential poling station in Nur Sultan. She was on her way out after casting her vote at the polling station this morning before the arrival of her father later.
Dr Shahid Qureshi told Dr Dariga that: ‘It was a very wise decision by the former president and her father to ‘transfer power smoothly and former president has also avoided, Robert Mugabe’ moments.
Dr Qureshi referred to his conversation with Dr Dariga last year in May 2018, at Media Forum about her being the next president of Kazakhstan and she ‘denied at that time’.
Dr Qureshi mentioned to her: ‘the former president has avoided being accused of nepotism by not nominating you (Dr Dariga) as his successor.
Dr Dariga Nazarbayeva, is a PhD in political science and head of Eurasian Media Forum is the oldest daughter of the former president Nursultan Nazarbayeva.
She is also Chairperson of the powerful Senate of Kazakhstan.
