David Beckham, the former England captain, was involved in a car crash after he collected his son, Brooklyn, from the Arsenal training ground on Saturday morning, according to reports.
The former England captain and his son, who plays for Arsenal’s under-16 side, were both shaken but not injured by the crash.
The pair walked away from the incident, which involved one other car, and were driven away in another vehicle.
A source close to Beckham said: “They were shaken. It was quite a heavy prang but thankfully everybody walked away uninjured. Everybody’s fine.”
Beckham was driving an Audi. Following the collision, the car’s airbags deployed. It is understood Beckham’s Audi was damaged on the driver’s side. “The oncoming car was going at quite a speed,” said a source.
Brooklyn had been playing against Brighton’s under-16s at London Colney in Hertfordshire, where Arsenal train.
Thomas Cadman, who plays for Brighton under-16s, said on Twitter: “Weird to play against Brooklyn Beckham earlier. Even weirder to be currently stuck behind David Beckham as he has crashed his car.”
Archie Davies, a team-mate, said: “Just seen David Beckham looks like he got in a car crash and hurt his shoulder. Star struck by seeing David Beckham tbh.’
Brooklyn was signed by Arsenal on a short-term contract in November. His brother, Romeo, 12, and Cruz, nine, have also been playing for the club’s underage teams.
