Combating International Terrorism: Things to Do

By Dr Shahid Qureshi  : –

Obviously all terrorist acts need to be condemned weather committed by States or individuals. The Paris attacks on Friday 13 were again unlucky for some who lost their lives, injured and families of the victims. Brand names of terrorism, Taliban, Al-Qaida and now Daesh aka ISIL  keep on changing in past 15 years but the chemical composition stays the same, same script. For example all the above terrorist outfit’s masterminds have been close allies of USA, NATO and West at least once in a life time. It seems like one group go and start these ‘projects’ and after sometimes another group goes and kill them. In this whole vicious ‘Cycle of Terror’ useful idiots play their part and rest are hired guns from various parts of the world e.g. private armies, foreign legions and mercenaries.

The branding and re branding of terrorism and terrorist outfits for example Taliban, al-Qaida, Daseh aka ISIL etc. has become policy of some states including USA. The whole ‘terrorism’ thing boils down to some military contractor, some security firm or some private consultants getting rich and depositing money in some off shore bank away from the law in 2015. The greed of the bankers, military contractor and politicians syndication have caused death and destruction in the world especially Muslim world starting from Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan and Syria.

Here is an interview video Clip of US General Wesley Clark, Ex Supreme Allied Commander NATO and its transcript.

US General Wesley Clark:

“Because I had been through the Pentagon right after 9/11. About ten days after 9/11, I went through the Pentagon and I saw Secretary Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz. I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He said, “Sir, you’ve got to come in and talk to me a second.” I said, “Well, you’re too busy.” He said, “No, no.” He says, “We’ve made the decision we’re going to war with Iraq.” This was on or about the 20th of September. I said, “We’re going to war with Iraq? Why?” He said, “I don’t know.” He said, “I guess they don’t know what else to do.” So I said, “Well, did they find some information connecting Saddam to al-Qaeda?” He said, “No, no.” He says, “There’s nothing new that way. They just made the decision to go to war with Iraq.” He said, “I guess it’s like we don’t know what to do about terrorists, but we’ve got a good military and we can take down governments.” And he said, “I guess if the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail.”

So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” And he said, “Oh, it’s worse than that.” He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, “I just got this down from upstairs” — meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office — “today.” And he said, “This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.” I said, “Is it classified?” He said, “Yes, sir.” I said, “Well, don’t show it to me.” And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, “You remember that?” He said, “Sir, I didn’t show you that memo! I didn’t show it to you!”

I was on BBC TV live program on 10th July 2011 with White House Chief of Staff Bill Dally on ‘US – Pakistan relations and War on Terror.

Pakistan’s total US-aid in 63 years was US $28 billion on the other hand US is spending US $7 billion every month in Afghanistan, which is a lot of money for the US tax payers. US – Pakistan friendship must be based on mutual respect and confidence.  Sadly US friendship with Pakistan is like a friendship with a hedgehog it hurts even US want to be nice.

Coming back to the terrorism in Paris on Friday 13 November 2015, which is a criminal act and all the perpetrators and their mastermind and beneficiaries should be brought to justice. As a writer I stand by France and its people due to their policies towards human rights, Iraq, Palestine and rest.

I am of the opinion that US’s real enemy is within and not outside which needs proper attention as few thousand Taliban created by USA and allies and ISIL again rebranded and re launched by the USA do not pose a mortal threat. At the same times these few thousand ‘hired guns’ serve the following purpose:

  1. It distract the attention of the US and Allies public from the inner corruption
  2. It divert and distract the attention of the public how the financial institutions and banks are behaving and their corruption in USA, Britain, Europe and world wide
  3. It allows the Swiss Banks to function without any questions about transparency and legitimacy of money deposited. I cannot imagine a bank will open an account without a name and address but Swiss are doing it and getting away with it. It is like Somali pirates getting ransom money by bank transfers and US never question them?
  4. All names of the account holders especially foreigners and wealth deposited must be made public so countries can ask their nationals how did you get this money and why you did not disclose?
  5. Tax Free Safe heavens and offshore accounts are no different than ‘Terrorist Safe Heavens’ as no terrorist organisation can exist and survive with the backing and funding of a ‘State’. Those Tax free safe heavens are holding wealth in papers but it physically exist in their own countries.
  6. The unholy and sinister alliance of Bankers, Military Industrial Complexes and Corrupt politicians must be toppled and those responsible brought to justice.

Finally should the World close its eyes and ears and accept ‘Sorry’ of war criminal Tony Blair on waging war on Iraq killing 2 million Muslims, destroying, displacing millions men, women and children, and forget about it?  The selective fit of humanity and human rights is not going to help as human beings must be treated equally be they are in Paris, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan.

By the way when US President George W Bush said: “GOD told me to go to war in Iraq”, he does not meant Christian God, he meant “Gold, Oil, Drugs” (GOD).
