Christie makes history in Moscow

Elise Christie made history by becoming the first Briton to win two medals at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

European champion Christie followed up her silver in the 500 metres with another second-placed finish in the 1,000m in Moscow.

The 24-year-old from Livingston almost went one better, finishing just 0.052 seconds behind winner Choi Minjeong of South Korea.

She said: “Under the circumstances, I’m really pleased with silver, (but) I believe I could have got more out of it if my head was in a different place.”
