Mischa Barton could be face losing her Los Angeles home because she is apparently behind on her mortgage payments.
The former OC actress owns a home said to be worth eight million US dollars (£4.7 million) in Beverly Hills and took out a mortgage of 4.2 million US dollars (£2.5 million) dollars on it in 2009, but People magazine has reported seeing documents that show she is nearly five months behind on payments.
She is said to owe 100,000 US dollars (£59,260) in missed payments and the lender has apparently put the property into foreclosure – which would force her to sell it to settle her debt, unless she can come to another agreement.
Mischa splits her time between London and the LA property, and has suffered a number of problems since leaving The OC. In 2007 she was arrested for driving under the influence and 18 months later was checked into a psychiatric hospital, saying: “It was terrifying. Straight out of Girl, Interrupted. Story of my life.”
She has been getting her career back on track, starring in small films including Throwdown and Hope Lost, and has said: “I’ve learned a lot. I’m stronger now, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
