Armed Forces Minister arrives in Gibraltar


(London Post)  Minister for the Armed Forces Penny Mordaunt has arrived in Gibraltar on her first official visit since taking up post, where she will meet service personnel stationed in the UK overseas territory.

She is also due to meet personnel from the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron who contribute to demonstrating sovereignty over the territorial waters.

Minister for the Armed Forces, Penny Mordaunt said:

I am delighted to have the opportunity to visit Gibraltar so early in my role as Minister of State for the Armed Forces. I welcome the chance to meet Defence personnel during my visit, including members of the Navy’s Gibraltar Squadron. I am proud of the professionalism, pride and commitment they show every day as the squadron helps to demonstrate sovereignty over the territorial waters.

I look forward to constructive discussions with His Excellency the Governor, the Chief Minister Mr Picardo, and the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Garcia.
