(London Post) On July 30, 2015 a meeting with the delegation of the United Kingdom, headed by Government Minister at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mr. Tobias Ellwood, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties stressed the high level of the Turkmen-British cooperation and expressed their commitment to intensify the dialogue at the level of the foreign ministries of the two countries, by enhancing political dialogue and mutual visits.
Regarding cooperation in trade and economic sphere the efficiency of the activity of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council (TUKTIC) was marked. The sides gave a positive assessment to the dynamic development of the bilateral relations and discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation in such areas, as energy, civil aviation, sports and tourism. The sides also expressed interest in cooperation in the fields of human rights and freedoms through the exchange of experience in this field.
During the meeting the sides noted the high level of political partnership between the two countries and discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, such as the UN and the EU. The parties also underlined the importance of strengthening the legal framework and practical implementation of agreements through joint projects and the development of a joint action plan to raise the relations to a new level of cooperation.
The British side expressed their desire to participate in assisting in the organization of V Asian Games in Turkmenistan.
During the talks, the distinguished guests congratulated Turkmenistan on the 20th anniversary of the neutrality and stressed the positive political potential of the country to provide a platform for dialogue on peace and security in the region and in the world.
