Syed Ibne Abbas, High Commissioner for Pakistan to the UK called on Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Alan Yarrow in his office today and discussed with him issues of mutual interest.
The High Commissioner apprised the Lord Mayor of the liberal trade and investment regime of Pakistan as well as the business and investment opportunities it offered for the British businesses. He informed the Lord Mayor about the economic reforms initiated by the government of Pakistan due to which the economic indicators were improving and investors’ confidence was growing in Pakistan’s economy. The High Commissioner informed him about several projects that the Pakistani companies were undertaking in collaboration with the companies based in the City of London. Enhanced collaboration between the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) was also discussed.
The Lord Mayor termed Pakistan an important investment destination for the companies based in the City of London and assured that he would apprise them of the opportunities offered by Pakistan.
The High Commissioner thanked the Lord Mayor for his goodwill gesture and expressed his desire to work together with his office for the shared objectives of promoting business and cultural ties as well as diaspora linkages between the two countries.
The High Commissioner also invited the Lord Mayor to visit Pakistan, which the latter agreed in principle.
