(Islamabad) Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has finally sought apology from the Armed Forces of Pakistan for his unpopular statement regarding armed forces. He would have been sacked immediately in any other country but Pakistani politicians are not use to leavening with respect historically. How can he be allowed to be in that position for carrying such views the very institution he is suppose to head and defend.

In a press statement issued by the Federal Minister said: “A strong and respected Army is an asset of nation. As a Pakistani I am proud of the velour and sacrifices of the men in uniform for the defence of the Motherland.”

He has further said that in last couple of weeks some misunderstanding cropped up based on his speeches delivered many years back made in a different context and in a different environment. “This created a misplaced perception about me which is far from reality. It was neither my intention and nor my objective to undermine an institution which I hold in high esteem.”

“At the time when armed forces are fighting on many fronts for the last many years and giving sacrifices unparalleled in history of Pakistan, it is a matter of great regret that an impression is being created by a section of media about my views and feelings about rank and files of armed forces and the institution which is completely false and misleading.”

Let’s see if the army accepts his apology and normalize relations with the PML-N government, which come into power with doctored mandate according to the opposition parties.
