Adnan Shukrijumah, al-Qaeda’s chief of global operations, was killed by Pakistani soldiers during a raid in Pakistan’s South Waziristan tribal area early Saturday, a spokesman for the military said. “The Al-Qaeda leader, who was killed by the Pakistan army in a successful operation, is the same person who had been indicted in the United States,” said a senior Pakistani army officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, AP reported. Shukrijumah, 39, was wanted in the United States for plotting to attack the New York subway. Attorney General Eric Holder labeled that plan as one of the most threatening to the US homeland since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
