Operation Decisive Storm aims at bringing all Yemenis to dialogue table – Kuwait FM

KUWAIT, March 31 (KUNA) — Kuwait said Tuesday the major objective of the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm aimed at brining all Yemeni groups around dialogue table to complete the political process, undermined by the Houthis.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah reaffirmed commitment to the peaceful resolution in Yemen and resumption of dialogue, and that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was preoccuied with the Yemeni affair since 2011.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, at a joint news conference with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon following a donors’ conference for the Syrian people, said the GCC and the Yemeni people approved an initiative and an implementation mechanism proposed by the six-member Arab Gulf bloc.
“The brothers in Yemen succeded through their constitutional channels to appoint a president and adopt a comprehensive national dialogue, which included all Yemeni groups … (who) approved outcome of this dialogue,” he added.
The Yemeni people “succeeded in writing the constitution which leaves two unfinished steps of the GCC initiative, which is electing the president and electing the parliament,” said Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.
Everybody clearly see who want to undermine the will of the Yemeni people by force, he said in reference to the Houthi militias.
Operation Decisive Storm “aims at restoring things in their right order, and gather all Yemenis around the table of dialogue to complete the GCC initaitive, which was endorsed by the Arab League and International Security Council, and its executive mechanism is about to be finalized,” said Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.
The operation, launched by a coalition of 10 countries, aimed at protecting the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership. (end) kt.bs
