DUBLIN, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) — Europe’s largest budget airline Ryanair said on Friday that it handled 11.2 million passengers in December 2019, up by nearly 9 percent when compared with the December 2018 figure.
Of all the passengers handled by Ryanair Group in the month, 10.7 million were handled by Ryanair, up by 7 percent year-on-year, and half a million were carried by its subsidiary Lauda, up by 67 percent year-on-year, said the airline.
Lauda is an Austria-based budget airline acquired by Ryanair in 2018.
The overall load factor or flight occupancy rate of the group in December 2019 remained unchanged at 95 percent when compared with the same month of 2018, showed statistics from the airline.
In the 12 months to December 2019, Ryanair Group handled a total of 152.4 million passengers, up by 9 percent when compared with the same period of 2018, said the company.
Ryanair announces annual figures each year after April 1 which marks the beginning of its fiscal year.
Headquartered in Ireland, Ryanair offers more than 2,400 daily flights connecting over 200 destinations in 40 countries and regions.
