(London Post) Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is still recovering from an accident. Former-Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo has said he did not have a positive update on the German’s progress.
“I have news and, unfortunately, it is not good,” he said Thursday at a media event in Milan, Italy .
Schumacher, a seven-time world champion in Formula One, is still receiving intensive treatment at his home in Switzerland following severe head injuries that he suffered in a skiing accident in December 2013 in France.
“Unfortunately, the skiing accident ruined his life,” the former Ferrari boss said.
Di Montezemolo, who was chairman of Ferrari during Schumacher’s racing career, defended his athlete against the claim that Schumacher was at fault for the accident.
“It’s not true that Michael wasn’t careful on his skis,” Di Montezemolo said. “When he went off piste, he was always careful. More than anything, on skis he was very careful.”
“Life is strange,” he added. “He was a fantastic driver and only had one accident with Ferrari in 1999.”
Sabina Kehm, Schumacher’s manager, declined to comment on di Montezemolo remarks.
