British are very particular about having advance knowledge of weather as it also helped them win the WWII at Normandy. You can have whole week or even one month’s weather of London or all major cities to plan your journey and that is why British news tell weather every 30 minutes.

While I was in Turkey I received an email from smart and handsome press attaché’ Muneer Ahmed about an event of the Overseas Pakistanis Commons run by the Government of Punjab with the imitative of Chief Minister Punjab Shabaz Sharif.  I am personal witness to the working of this commission brain child of my close friend and fist ever commissioner Barrister Amjad Malik. He has done fantastic job in making this functional.  Well I sent him a confirmation that although it will be tight schedule for me but I will attend this event and obviously it is about me and other overseas British Pakistanis.

London temperature was below zero, very windy and chill factor was even low as minus 2. To my surprise upon arrival I was told to go to tent being used as waiting area for the visitors at the High Communion during the day. I could not figure out that when High Commission have enough place to accommodate inside the hall why all the ‘overseas Pakistanis’ are being put in a tent with no close doors and faulty heating system?

Some people sitting next to me have protested on this but the organisers and stage manager who himself was wrapped in a Russian style long coat completely ignored the protest and keep on inviting people on the stage to the long speeches and presentations. He could juts pause the event and every one could go inside the hall of the high Commissions next door in 10 minutes keeping in view the health and safety regulations in United Kingdom. Oh I forgot by the rule it was a Pakistani territory therefore Pakistani diplomats could treat us ‘the British Pakistanis’ like animals?

Captain Shaheen Butt a famous US based businessman and deputy at Overseas Commission Punjab very polite said: sorry for the delay due to flight delay from Pakistan and as I am straight coming from airport so I am not appropriately dressed for this weather. None of the organizers listened to this polite request and hint and Russian style wrapped Pakistani diplomats continued their mission and rest of us left to bloody freeze.

That is how much these diplomats paid by the Pakistani tax payers care about British Pakistanis.  as actions speaks louder than the words Your Excellency?
