DUSHANBE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — The first International Youth Olympic Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries will take place here in Tajik capital from Aug. 24th to 29th, Umeda Yusupova, press secretary of Tajikistan’s National Olympic Academy said Thursday.
The six-day event will be attended by more than 60 boys and girls, aged 18-25 years, from nine CIS member nations, which are Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
The participants are the winners of the Olympic Movement competitions, heads of educational programs of national Olympic committees, representatives of national Olympic academies.
The program includes passing tests about the history of the Olympic Movement in the ancient and modern world, conducting sports in indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and chess, and theoretical and practical sessions and discussions, trainings and seminars.
The moderators of the activities will be highly qualified specialists of national Olympic academies, Olympic champions, famous athletes and coaches.
There also will be an exhibition of the Olympic Movement achievements. Project participants will have unique opportunity in professional development in the field of sports management.
The project is implemented with the help of Tajikistan’s National Olympic Academy in partnership with the Tajik National Olympic Committee and the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs and with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.
