At least 120 people have died after f ast-moving floodwaters submerged large parts of the main city in Indian-controlled Kashmir after five days of pounding rain.
Officials said it was the worst flooding in 50 years across the Himalayan region.
The rains had stopped today but officials said rescue efforts in the city of Srinagar were being hampered by the spreading water that had overflowed from the Jhelum river.
In many areas, the water was about 12ft deep, submerging entire homes.
Stranded residents have left their homes to move in with friends or relatives in safer areas.
